$100 Million Announced for Smaller Canadian Civil Society Groups

May 9th, Minister Bibeau announced a $100 million dollar fund for Canadian small and medium sized organizations.

After almost three years of discussions with the Inter-Council Network of Provincial and Regional Councils for International Cooperation (ICN), of which BCCIC is a part and the current host, and the Canadian Council for International Co-operation (CCIC), this fund for smaller Canadian civil society groups has just become a reality.

“It is a proud moment and proof that government is taking a thoughtful, proactive yet timely approach to change. It is concrete proof behind the claim that Canada is back,” said Michael Simpson, Executive Director, BCCIC.

“We have been working hard to make sure that Canadians, particularly those from smaller groups who support global development through grassroots projects around the world, will once again be able to access support from the government of Canada,” said Simpson.
