2017 International Leadership Award – Deadline Extended

The BCCIC International Leadership Award recognizes exceptional contributions to international cooperation, exhibiting leadership and strong development effectiveness strategies.

What is the International Leadership Award?

Inspired by the six essential elements for delivering on the sustainable development goals , the International Leadership Award honours a Full BCCIC Member’s partner organization from the global South who is an outstanding role model of leadership in terms of their development effectiveness strategies. This award aims to strengthen a relationship with a Southern partner and engage British Colombians on the global issues addressed in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What can the selected recipient expect?

The selected Southern organization will be invited to send a representative as a special guest for International Development Week in February of 2018. BCCIC is able to cover international travel costs up to $2,000. Additionally, in coordination with the Southern organization’s BC partner, BCCIC will also support a small public engagement tour in the province during the representative’s visit to BC including: $1,000 for venues, $500 for refreshments, $600 for travel within BC, and $1000 for living expenses and accommodation. The Southern recipient’s representative will also have the opportunity to partake in BCCIC programming during this time. Funds provided by BCCIC are only able to cover tangible cost such as venue, food, materials, travel, and accommodations; staff time is not eligible.

Nominating organizations must be a Full BCCIC Member (Organizational or Chapter) in good standing and commit to leading the logistics and promotion of the arrival, as well as coordinating public engagement events during the recipient’s time in BC with support from BCCIC. The nominating organization must have been working with their nominee for at least three years and it will be anticipated that the Southern partner receiving this award commits to spending about a week’s time in BC in February 2018.

The organization receiving this award will demonstrate leadership, innovation, and collaboration at the community level and beyond, as well as exemplify development effectiveness approaches in their work on one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Completed nomination forms must be received by 5:00PM, Friday September 29th, 2017. Please email ben.intern@bccic.ca with any questions or concerns.
