Gender Equality and Intersectional Climate Justice | Virtual Panel Event to Mark International Women’s Day 2022

International Women’s Day (IWD) takes place every year on March 8th to recognize the importance of gender equality and to acknowledge and address historical and enduring inequalities. To mark IWD 2022, the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV)’s Global Development Studies (GDS) program and the School for Social Justice and Global Stewardship (SoJust) will host a virtual panel event, “Gender Equality and Intersectional Climate Justice,” focusing on the need to apply a gender and intersectional lens to the impacts of climate change and climate action.

Margaret Tuhumwire – Director of Environmental Women in Action for Development (EWAD), Uganda

Mueni Mutinda – Public Policy Advisor, Climate Change at Canadian Foodgrains Bank, a relief and development organization headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba; delegate to COP 26

Jennifer Hong – Policy Analyst, Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Forest Service; BC Council for International Cooperation delegate to COP 26
