Sustainable Development Project – March 30
March 30 @ 6:00 am - 9:00 am
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to collaborate on the generation of a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Scorecard for our community. Please click this link for more information on the: United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
An SDG Scorecard is a community-based monitoring tool that enables community members to voice their assessment of priorities as identified in our regional community development documents. It may be used as an instrument to elicit social and public accountability and increases the responsiveness of service providers. The initial phase in the Comox Valley included review data from the following places:
The Comox Valley Regional District Regional Growth Strategy The Comox Valley Sustainability Strategy The 2018 Vital Signs Report The Comox Valley Economic Development Society The Comox Valley Coalition to End Homelessness The Comox Valley Transition Society The Comox Valley Chapter of the BC Council for International Cooperation, the Comox Valley Community Health Network and the Comox Valley Nurses for Health & the Environment collaborated to initiate the preparatory groundwork and research. We now look to the community to bolster the data, bring awareness, and aid in setting community priorities. Please bring copies of any available data you have that could contribute to the scorecard!
We will hold 4 community conversations designed to elicit data and information from community groups and organisations that will contribute to a collaborative SDG scorecard.
The sessions will be divided into the following categories:
Session 1 on February 18th from 4:30-7:30 pm will focus on the SDG theme of People revolving around goals 1 – No Poverty, 2 – Zero Hunger, 3 – Good Health and Well being, 4 – Quality Education, and 5 – Gender Equality

The intention at each session is to convene community members into “focus groups’ world cafe style to look at what has been done and answer the following questions:
What did we get right? What did we get wrong? What data is missing, and do you know where we can get it? Do you where we can find any missing baseline data or targets? Are the goals, targets and indicators interrelated? Anything else we should consider? We look forward to collaborating with you. You are welcome to attend as many sessions as you are able. Please register through Eventbrite for the session(s) where you feel your information might be most pertinent.
