Longtime coordinator Barbarah Nicoll has moved on from organizing for the Kootenay Collaboration Network. Her work with the network was especially focused on empowering youth, and creating spaces for deep, intersectional visions of justice and sustainability. We are very grateful for her years of wise and inspired organizing, and wish Barbarah well on her future projects!
In the spring KCN hired Marya Folinsbee, who has a long history in Peace Studies, social & environmental justice organizing, and activist theatre.
On our plate this fall, KCN will once again be hosting a gourmet dinner for local organizers in our network. Formerly known as the Networking Dinner, this year we debut the Collaboration Dinner. Coming up in November, we will be treating local organizations, activists, and KCN members to a delicious, locally sourced meal. The Collaboration dinner is an evening of engaging conversation and collaborative brainstorming about future actions.
This winter and spring we are looking forward to creating events that are focused on skill building, empowerment and connection across generations and “causes”. There is so much good work for justice & sustainability in the West Kootenays. We see our role being about connecting issues and organizations, and being a resource that makes all of our actions more thoughtful, effective, and collaborative.
