Youth Leading the World

CONGRESS Selkirk College, Castlegar BC  Nov 30, Dec 1 & 2

YOUth LEADing the World (YLTW) is a bold initiative from OzGREEN that builds the capacity of young people and their communities to be effective change makers. Working in partnership with local people and organizations, OzGREEN trains local people to run YLTW in their own region.

YLTW seeks to foster:

  • Community driven change and social innovation
  • Transformative sustainability leadership
  • Global network of change-makers

YLTW begins with a youth leadership congresses, conducted locally and focusing attention on 3 ways to make a difference:

  • INFORM: learning to live within one planet limits;
  • INNOVATE: action planning for personal and community change; and
  • INVOLVE: connecting change makers locally and globally.

YLTW began in 2009 in 7 regions, and has grown 10-fold to benefit 100 regions globally, including Australia, South Asia, South East Asia, Timor Leste, Central America, South America, Canada, USA, Africa, Europe and the Pacific. With over 850 Facilitators trained to date, YLTW has built the leadership capacity of 15,000 young

people, who have reached a further 500,000 people through the impact of their action plans.

  • Building the capacity of grass roots change-makers to foster community driven change towards a more peaceful, sustainable and fair world.
  • Engaging, equipping and empowering young people to tackle sustainability challenges locally and globally.
