BCCIC works to develop awareness and understanding that encourages informed citizen action on global issues.
With a vision for all British Columbians to be active and involved global citizens, BCCIC works to increase awareness of global social justice issues by collaborating with local and global partners doing work in communities around the world and to encourage individuals, communities, businesses and governments alike to move toward a better world.
BCCIC works on a variety of public engagement activities, including but not limited to digital engagement campaigns, presentations, lunch and learn sessions, community meetings, roundtables and award nominations. For more information about youth engagement specifically, visit our youth engagement page.
As part of its public engagement endeavours, BCCIC is an active participant in International Development Week (IDW). IDW is an annual initiative that has been held in early February since 1991. This uniquely Canadian tradition offers an opportunity to pause and acknowledge Canadian contributions to international assistance. Canadians individuals, the government of Canada and civil society organizations come together to mark this week by organizing hundreds of activities across the country and abroad. Keep an eye on our calendar for IDW events!
Chapters
BCCIC’s chapters across the province are groups of members who have come together in a particular geographic location to undertake collective work. Chapters work on their own public engagement initiatives, including events, workshops and info sessions. They also take lead in organizing youth dialogues about the SDGs and other local-global issues and are actively involved in BCCIC’s public engagement efforts when appropriate.
