Sean Burke

Sean Burke has extensive experience in international development and good governance. He has worked in 30 countries with the UN between 2003 and 2016, with long-term postings in Cambodia, Kenya, Philippines, and Tanzania. For the last 3-years, Sean has worked with BCCIC organizational member HOPE International Development Agency, and for 2-years as the Director for Overseas Programs. He has a broad range of responsibilities including leading the strategic planning and oversight for all overseas programming with HOPE covering 17 countries and 9 SDGs; working with HOPE’s leadership team and board in organizational strategic planning; and representing HOPE on various working groups and forums, as well as with institutional donors including Global Affairs Canada.

Sean has previously supported a range of organizations in governance roles, including as a member of the North Vancouver District Small-Grants Committee for almost 3-years; working as an advisor to a first-nations non-profit board of directors for 2-years; and most recently, engaging with the BCCIC Executive Director in discussions around strategic planning for the BCCIC. Sean would like to continue working with BCCIC’s leadership team and members in further supporting the strength and diversity of the BCCIC community.
